Tariffs on woom Bikes

Customs Control

We are sorry to have to announce an unexpected price increase on woom bikes as a result of new tariffs charged by the UK government because we import them from Austria.

This came as a nasty shock when we discovered it in the middle of January. The euphoria we felt after the Christmas Eve deal between the UK and the EU was very short-lived. We had believed the UK-EU trade deal would protect us from tariffs, but we were mistaken. It’s all down to the rules of origin: the bikes are made in Bangladesh and then imported into the EU; woom then ship them to us from the EU and so the tariffs are payable because they are made in a ‘third country’. You’ve probably read or seen on the news, that many other importers of goods from the EU have been caught out by the same issue.

As an independent, family-owned business, we have no choice but to pass on the cost of these tariffs to our customers. However, we believe that woom bikes still offer great value for money. And as other importers find their costs affected by similar issues and revise their prices, here at Little Bike Company we are sure you will find that they remain competitively priced compared to other quality children’s bikes. As always, we are here for any questions you may have.
