The Orbital Cycling Festival

Orbital Cycling Festival

We had a really fantastic time at the Orbital Bike Festival with lots of interest in our lightweight kids bikes – it was great to chat to so many families that love cycling and are really keen to get their kids having fun on bikes. Thanks so much to the event organisers 🙂

We also managed to leave our stand (occasionally!) and have a good look around at what the festival had to offer, the events where excellent and there were some lovely exhibitors.  Here’s a little round up of just a few that caught our eye last weekend (there are so many more we could add to this list, hopefully we will have time to share a few more next week!)

Steve McCulley Lios Bikes

Lios

Lios officially launched to the public at the Orbital festival and we wish them the best of luck! The name Lios comes from Lily and Oscar, the children of Steve McCulley, who runs this bespoke and unique bike fitting service. The company also build high-end custom carbon bikes and hand-built carbon wheels.
Sadly, Steve was injured during his career as a Royal Marine, marking an abrupt end to his aspirations to become a professional cyclist and triathlete, so instead he turned to his love of building bikes and with support from ‘Help for Heros’ Lios was born – you can read more about the company here or say hello to them on Facebook.

Cycling art prints

Stunning retro cycle clothing and we absolutely love the limited editions prints they stock too – so tempted!  The hand pulled screen print above is called ‘Pelaton’ and by Eliza Southwood. Find Stolen Goat on facebook here  and say hello!

Fondriest UK stand at Orbital Bike Festival

 Bike Floss

Purple Harry

If you have a budding Chris Froome at home you may want to direct them to our tips for maintaining your bike along with a visit to Purple Harry’s facebook page to keep up to date with the latest innovative products they stock like the bike floss shown above.

Look Mum No Hands

Look Mum No Hands

We want to live in this cafe, don’t you!?  “We like riding our bikes and drinking coffee. We had an idea about combining stuff we like to make something special. We found a great space in a great location, cleaned it up and called it ‘look mum no hands!’ We show films and cycle sport on our big projector screen. We have a workshop and two great mechanics who fix bikes. We have people who are really into making good food and coffee. We also sell BEER!”

Look Mum No Hands was also the starting point for an overnight race or Audax cleverly named “Look Mum No Sleep” from their cafe in London to the Orbital Festival at Goodwood Motor Circuit in Chichester – over 200km.

Here’s to Orbital cycling Festival 2014 – we can’t wait!  – Did you attend, what did you think, leave a comment and let us know – and don’t forget we have a competition running to win a kids Cyclocross Bike from Moda worth £489!
